About Us

We keep track of who's who in the Twitter world surrounding #yeg (what's #yeg?) and area. We keep track of events that you go to, the pictures up on Flickr that regards Edmonton and the online community we create.

Most local Twitter communities and local online communities are quite tight knit and more influential on local government and other organizations. The services that online communities provide are keeping several local ammenities accountable for their actions as news and other communications, such as discussion, run quickly on this channel and to many people within the area and beyond.

Connecting and sharing is the main spirit of Twitter and other online communities. This means that other online communities may be linked to certain events if there are resources available. For example, Facebook or Flickr may be involved in the process of sharing the recaping events that has happened. Flickr will have several albums with these events within them and linked to their albums. Facebook may be involved in a number of different ways. Facebook can be involved in an event being described there or a group that may be representated there with extra information. There may be other outside sites that may be linked, such as blogs.

This is the destination to get information on Twitter events and other online events in Edmonton and the surrounding area!

Current Tweetups & Current Events

Our Most recent event has been the very successful grand opening of ENTS (Edmonton New Technology Space) and there have been a blog update from Mastermaq on his blog regarding this, which is also a review and a recap of the event.

Friday, September 18, 2009, the weekly meeting of #yegsafetymtg is taking place at a determined location dicussed on Twitter. Past locations have been Ceili's and Brewsters in downtown Edmonton.

Many people wonder what #yegsafetymtg is. #yegsafetymtg is just that, an Edmonton Safety Meeting. You know, it's the end of the day on the Friday, we'll just have a "safety meeting".... it's pretty much an excuse to have a nice drink at the end of a work week.

Coming up this Saturday is the annual Edmonton Code Camp which presents many presentators from many different fields within the world of software development and web development. Many of the presentations are new this year and present 3 different rooms that can give you more than enough information on many different topics. From Sharepoint, to iPhone Development for .NET Developers, this free camp will let you meet with some local (and not so local) software dev folks.

Since you cannot possibly be in two rooms at once (although, you would probably like to be in all three) there is the hashtag on Twitter that will be used #yegcodecamp.

Mastermaq will be attending this event with, most likely, a review or some photos, as stated in his blog entry.

Have A Suggestion?

Do you have a Tweetup suggestion or just an event? Please let us know, or ask the local Twitter community using the #yeg hashtag and see the response it may garner.
